Chris joined the BookSpace team in January 2011, after returning from Kyiv, Ukraine where he was working as an English Teacher.
Q & A time
Starting off in the BookSpace warehouse over ten years ago, Chris was responsible for arranging deliveries to schools and libraries, picking and packing library supplies and managing stock levels. Fast-forward 10 years and he’s now a permanent fixture in the main office and spends his time looking after sales and marketing.
We asked Chris a few questions, we hope you enjoy reading the replies.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy getting out and about – hiking, kayaking and running. I like nothing more than a good game night with friends and discovering something new to play. I learnt to snowboard whilst I was living in Ukraine and I loved it. It’s something I’d like to do more of this year.
What book are you reading at the moment?
I’m currently reading The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I wasn’t expecting it to have such a profound effect on me but it’s really giving me a lot to think about!
What did you want to be when you were a child?
I had so many ideas when I was a child… farmer, actor, pilot, interpreter, spy!
What is your favourite BookSpace product?
The Reading Hideaway without a doubt! It’s iconic and has been a hit with primary schools and public libraries since I joined BookSpace.
What has been the best decision you have ever made?
Working in the USA for a year. I met some great people and got to explore lots of new places whilst I was there.
Is a jaffa cake a biscuit or a cake?
I’m really not sure – all I know is I don’t like them!
What superpower would you have and why?
I would love the ability to control the weather. That way I could go on more UK holidays and not have to pack a poncho!
What is your favourite part of your job?
I’m really enjoying getting involved in the reels we do for social media. Big thanks to Alexa for the weekly Instagram 101 sessions!
